Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
