19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.
The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
