Three In Contention for Young Sports Personality Prize
Announced recently
England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.
These three athletes have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.
Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a widely-listened-to radio show.
The 2025 recipient will be revealed live on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.
The event will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe.
She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being nominated for this award is incredible," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
The Darts Prodigy

Littler's 2025 began in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a highlight for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."
The Cricket Sensation

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.
Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.
Perrin came in second place in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
