Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'
Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank
Spurs supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs conceded two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League home loss of the year.
But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when the keeper lost possession far beyond his area.
The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.
But, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
King laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.
Seconds afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, a number of Spurs fans booed him.
Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those jeering sessions really angered Frank.
"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs fans that do that. Fair enough booing following the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Tete had given the visitors a early advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely preventable".
"I do appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role Vicario is playing. He's a great team player, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."
'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'
Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Match
Italian national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to take the criticism.
"The second score was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he said.
"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult challenge to overcome."
He said being booed "comes with the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to stay increasingly calm, to focus on ourselves. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to overturn outcomes. This match is a poor loss and it is hard to take."
'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'
In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too occurred on Saturday.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to target.
Ten moments passed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was five seconds following the clearance.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.
"It amazed me none of the back four returned to the goal line. When not one of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the correct contact and get it towards goal. I had a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."
'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
Although the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to continue their home woes.
The match was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the league, a joint team statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to play before the end of the year.
Only one of those wins have occurred after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects seems to go against you as well – the first was a deflected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a unique story, today we lost in the early stages.
"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive at home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.
And they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (since at least 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major team with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
